After a hectic spring, Video Power is sailing through a much calmer summer.
While our 2018 films are completing one year of festival distribution with various selections, our most recent films are harvesting their first successes. Speak Out by Jan van Opstal was shown in Watch Out! Tetovo Film Festival Macedonia, Score by Joep Hinssen (recently shown together with Déploiements at EMAF Osnabrück) will be heading to Egypt in September to be part of the 9th Cairo Video Festival and Matthew C. Wilson’s Within the Temple Without will be part of EYE Experimental (the distribution program by EYE Film Museum Amsterdam for experimental films). In addition, the three first chapters of Portrait of a Collective Body by Nina Glöckner have been finished and shown at Musrara Mix Festival in Tel’aviv and in the exhibition “It Happens Anyway“ at W139 in Rotterdam.
We also have some films coming out of the oven. The winners of the 23rd Video Power Pitch are done with production and are starting to edit. Rik Chaubet’s experimental superhero movie and Britte van Meurs’ documentary about truck drivers’ everyday life will be both finished in October.
Finally, there are some Video Power events on the horizon. This September there will be two Video Power screenings, one in Weert, together with Destination Unknown and one during Uitfeest Utrecht, together with IMPAKT and Filmtheater ‘t Hoog. Stay tuned for more information.
