Slideshow of a series of photographs taken in the underground caves of Maastricht, the Netherlands. These tunnels were used and sculpted by Jesuits missionaries during the 19th and 20th century. The series builds an architectural and artificial memory, punctuated by copies of historical markers. These markers happen to be all referring to wars, conquests and reappropriations of symbols, territories and monuments, creating a vertically layered History. The audio narrative, similar to a guided tour, is an assemblage of various sources of information: Jesuits diaries, art history essays, encyclopedia, tripadvisor, newspapers articles...
